Natural Hair Loss Treatments

While there are some FDA approved drug treatments for hair loss, many people prefer to start with something less intrusive, or likely to have side effects, such as natural hair loss treatments. Losing your hair is a very personal thing and people will go to all kinds of lengths to prevent it from getting worse, or to use a product which is said to stimulate hair growth. Men are certainly concerned about hair loss but for women it seems to generate far more upset. Some men will wear a hairpiece and women who lose their hair as a result of cancer treatment for example will usually wear a wig until their own hair starts to grow back.

When you consider the upset that hair loss can cause for an individual it is little wonder that information on herbal and natural hair loss treatments can be found all over the internet. There is quite a list of these treatments and many of them are ordinary household items that you might find in any cupboard or on any shelf. Certainly natural hair loss treatments could be said to be among the safest ways of dealing with hair loss.

Research tends to link hair loss with a number of things, a lack of iron for example, or too much of the DHT hormone (particularly in men), leaving aside any genetic tendency towards hair loss. Some experts believe that beginning with natural hair loss treatments is the best way to start, and may even produce the best results for your hair. A major principle underlying natural health loss treatments is the importance of diet and the consumption of the right amount of vitamins and minerals essential to good health. For example some research has found that hair loss can be accelerated if a person does not include sufficient fatty acids in their diet.

Along with diet, natural hair loss treatments will often include the use of herbs or plants, such as onions and stinging nettles – because nettles are rich in vitamins a and c they are good at combating an excess of the DHT hormone, thus inhibiting hair loss and promoting growth. Other natural hair loss treatments include green tea. Drinking four or five cups of green tea a day, or getting it in capsule form from a health food shop, is said to encourage hair re-growth.

As with any other treatments not all natural hair loss treatments do the same job. A few, nettles for example, prevent or slow down hair loss, while the majority will stimulate hair growth. A lot depends on an individual’s problem and what method suits them best.
